Importance of Good Eye Vision to Road Safety

When we speak about road accident, we are actually talking about three key elements namely road user, vehicle and road condition.

The most important element in the all three is human as road user and also as driver. Driver quality becomes main focus in each discussion on road problem.

It is quite hard to increase road user quality without awareness and sense of responsibility. This is because as bad as car's condition can be it is still cannot move by its own to be involved in an accident.

Road condition also plays a role. A zigzag road is more dangerous than straight road while road width can provide comfort for the users. Good road signs and road chicane could also help.

Environmental factors such as rain, slippery road, fog or hot weather also cannot be denied contributed to road accidents.

Driving and vision

When driving, vision and oculomotor (movement - vision) reaction relationship becomes very important. Reactions like braking, taking a curve or avoiding obstacles is one of oculomotor reaction.

Here we could sum up clearly that in driving process, eye and vision condition are very important. This aspect seldom discussed in cases of road accidents.

Because there are clear association between road safety and eye vision, then eye vision factor must be given attention. Visual acuity test which done during driving license application is too simplistic and does not follow the standard that it should be.

It is not only done roughly but it is done by people with less expertise on vision and human eye.

One who can read vehicle's plate number at the distance of six meters is does not mean that he or she have good vision. This is because visual acuity test is one of eyesight function test.

When a driver drive vehicle, eyesight function in total should function normally. This is to ensure oculomotor reflex functioning well and quick mainly in aspect of visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, color perception and stereoscopic eye vision area.

Limited area of visual field can be disturbing because when driving, peripheral vision (side vision of the eye) would be vital to determine vehicle position with other vehicle. Therefore driver knows where he is especially when overtaking, changing lanes and taking bend. Vehicle speed is also observed by using peripheral vision.

Interference in visual field will result driver become unnoticed of object beside of the vehicle and this condition can happen in retinal damage cases like Glaucoma's patient, diabetes or retinal detachment.

Eye Test and Road Safety

Color test is also important to facilitate driver in identifying color code in road marking, for example red color for dangerous areas, yellow for more caution and green or blue for safe area.

Stereopsis test also should be done to ensure three dimensions vision (3D) is well-enough for the driver. It is important to estimate vehicle distance with objects ahead while driving. Of people with squinted eye, 3D's vision lessens depending on the squint level.

If a driver having squint problem in a tired body's condition especially when going back from far work place or on long journey, that driver can have diplopia (object seem as two), glare and drowse quickly.

Diplopia could lead to accidents because driver would become confused when seeing two overlapping images.

Good visual acuity level is at levels 6/9 in Snellen's chart for each eye separately with vision aid such as eye glass or contact lens. 6/9 vision means one who has vision problem had to stand up at the six meters distance whereas normal people can see clearly at nine meters distance.

Examples of Situation

Try to imagine one who have just 6/18 level of eyesight in Snellen's chart drive a vehicle. Those people having normal vision already clearly see object well off 18 meters before whereas these drivers will merely see clearly that object at the distance six metres.

Let say that a cat crossing 30 meters ahead while driver speed at 80 kilometers per hour (km/h). At that speed, the driver will only take 17 seconds to reach to the cat.

If the driver only can see the cat at six meters distance, can he brake his vehicle or avoid in time because he only have about three seconds to act within six meters whereas braking time take more than 3 seconds to stop from speed 80 km/h.

Contrast between object with background is also important while driving especially when raining or driving at night. Imagine when you drive at dusk, suddenly a buffalo cross. You are difficult to see the buffalo in the dusk because the contrast between buffalo and dusk environment causing you difficult to see the buffalo although the buffalo is big. Good contrast enable driver see an object easily. So contrast sensitivity test also should be carried out when getting driving license.

The public vehicle driver especially must undergo thorough eye examination and periodically to determine perfect level of eyesight function. This is because accident which involves public transport such as bus would involve many injuries or loss of lives.

Effects of Interrupted Eye Vision

Interference in eyesight function would also raise symptoms such as dizziness, quickly become drowsy, seeing glares or tired eye which all can cause loss of focus and discomfort when driving.

Because more than 90 percent case of road accidents involving human factor, then all possibilities that become the cause of accident should be given attention.

Among factors that involve vision and road safety question includes visual impairment problems such as myopia, long-sighted, Astigmatism, color blind and others.

A strict condition to ensure all drivers have suitable level of eyesight is needed for safeguarding safety during in road.

Apart from the sense of responsibility before and while driving and complying with all road signals, attention to eye vision factors especially during license test and driving in road may also avoid tragedies that can rob lives. Photo attribution to kyknoord.

Eczema - A Scaly Skin Irritation
Skin disease! Its does not sound scary but it is surely frightening if you yourself suffer it or seeing a person suffering from it. Skin disease is frightening not because of pain undergone but because it stands out externally and it affect an individual appearance.

Most skin diseases are harmless and rarely life-threatening. However, the presence of any skin disease will definitely make worries for daily life, not only because it caused discomfort but also make a person feels inferior to mix in the society.

Skin of eczema sufferer is easily infected especially by S. aureus bacteria or virus such as Herpes Simplex.

If discussing about skin problem, the first thing people might think is some to do with women's beauty. However, what author wish to present this time is about skin problem, especially atopic eczema which now attacks one from every five children.

If you are a parent or relative to eczema patient, doubtlessly you will understand it is something which is difficult to face. Even though it does not threaten life, patient that live uncomfortably 'in his or her own skin' of course make it difficult to undergo good quality of life like others.

Furthermore, less precise diagnosis also found given to eczema atopic patient by doctor that does not have the expertise in skin disease, causing treatment which given also ineffective. There are also patients who stick with assumption that it is just dry skin problem and only get their medicine from pharmacy without meeting the doctor.

Eczema, dermatitis, atopic eczema

Eczema, is also known as dermatitis, comes from Greek's word which means 'boiling over' which reflect it sense on eczema skin.

Eczema includes a number of skin problems which is commonly found, from those the lightest up to the worst, and estimated 30 to 35 percent of patients referred to hospitals affected by eczema.

Atopic eczema also is the most occurred eczema type but it cause is still unclear. Genetic factor and environment said to play role in the occurrence of skin problem.

Eczema is a penalizing type of disease like diabetes because it is chronic and extended for a long period of time.

This disease may cause child unable to go to school up to few months due to exposure to hot weather, dust and sweat while parents may be forced to take leave to look after the child that have severe eczema.

However, this condition usually does not happen for lifelong. It is estimated two thirds of eczema patient will gradually recovered when they grow to adult, mostly at around 18 years old.

Atopic eczema is also associated with other atopic diseases like asthma and allergic rhinitis. Milk rash used to be seen in infants is among early sign of eczema problem, especially if the baby?s parents suffer atopic disease or other allergy.

Eczema's number of cases now on the rise especially among children. This disease is found a lot in developing countries, mostly in urban areas. There are hypothesis which link this problem with the cleanliness level practiced.

The too clean society is said preventing the child exposure to certain element to develop immunity from the early stage. If immunity on allergy is not formed from early stage, then interaction impact with allergen later will become worse (hypersensitive).

The Trigger of Eczema
Trigger is not the cause a patient to suffer eczema but it is an element or irritant which made patient eczema to worsen.

Irritant from patient's environment may cause eczema increasingly to boil over, but this can be cure after several days if the material is avoided from the patient and cleaned from his skin.

Scratching make eczema worse.

Among usual irritants found are including metal, fabric, detergent and particular chemical material. Some patients also may be forming allergy on particular substances (allergen) such as dust mite, pet saliva, fur, pollen and may even certain food which might worsen eczema.

Certain allergen introduction in patient's body will start the body immunity system reaction.

This reaction may will aggravate the eczema state. Patient's skin may take a little time to heal although after the allergen is cleaned from the patient's body.

Patient who experience medium or severe eczema is suggested to undergo allergy screening test for food. This allergy causing food is also only the trigger and not the cause of the patient to suffer eczema.

Doctor can provide eating refraining guidance for the patient to follow based the mentioned test result but must ensure the patient does not become deficient of essential nutrient which the body needs.

The Treatment for Eczema
Basic principle of eczema treatment

The basic principle of eczema treatment is by avoiding the irritants or allergens which can worsen the condition. Eczema treatment which given is also specialized according the state and needs of each individual patient.

The treatment given will not cure the eczema 100 percent but more to effort of controlling patient's skin condition to enable them to have more quality of life.

The main purpose of treatment is to stop the 'itchy, scratching, itchier, more scratching' cycle. This will provide the opportunity for the skin to recover and rebuild its defense.

Optimum treatment planning involves several parts to defuse the dry, swollen, itchy or infected skin condition simultaneously.

The main purpose of treatment is to stop the 'itchy, scratching, itchier, more scratching' cycle.

The use of moisturizer becomes the basic of patient's skin care to help lock the moisture and soften the skin again. Moisturizer also said helps in reducing crack, dryness in skin and defuses the irritation.

Steroid cream treatment

Beside that, steroid cream spread also needed to reduce the reddish on patient's skin. There are over 100 types of steroid cream spread on market with different level of strength.

This medicine intake should follow advice and prescription from doctor, especially for children to avoid steroid poisoning. Steroid cream spread also only may be given in certain distance period according to patient?s eczema condition instead of continuously given for a long time.

Steroid medication must be given with care because this medicine could also give adverse impact to skin if used too much.

Steroid cream spread is absorbed greater at folded skin part, young or old skin, facial skin, genitals area (up to 100 times) and diseased skin such as with eczema.

If its use is not controlled, this medicine could give side effect on spreaded area or in the body system.

Among side effect if this medicine is mistakenly used are skin atrophy, vein damage (Telangiectasia), skin easily swollen, weak to germs infection, allergic dermatitis, acne, skin increasingly become hairy, cataract and glaucoma in the eyes.

Steroid medication is only for short-term use and considered ineffective anymore if its use is still needed for more than three weeks. Calcineurin inhibitor is among purportedly to be a safe alternative medicine for steroid to treat eczema.

As for handling germs infection problem, antibiotic and steroid cream spread mixture can be applied according with doctor?s advice. This is especially to fight against Staphylococcus Aureus bacterial infection which found a lot in eczema skin.

Other treatment

Apart from that, there are also different drugs such as itch medication or antihistamine that can be used to reduce itchiness, especially at night.

For patients who need specialist treatment, they may have to be included into ward where the eczema can be treated using different techniques such as phototherapy or PUVA to reduce the patient's skin problem.

There are new discoveries that may aid in the effort to understand and handle eczema. Breast milk lactation and probiotic intake by pregnant mother can possibly delay or help to reduce eczema problem.

This is still being studied but result of 18 early studies has shown that there are links between breast feeding in the first three month after baby are born and the protection from atopic eczema.

Handling Eczema Campaign
Among the thing that to be achieve through this campaign is to voice the increase in eczema cases worldwide, its impact to socio-economy of the country and to stress the importance of accurate diagnosis to distinguish eczema with other skin diseases, besides determining the level of eczema experience by each patient.

A right diagnosis will determine the type and effectiveness of a given treatment. Eczema is a punitive disease for the family and patient. As such, parents have to understand the circumstances faced by their child and not just scold them because they scratching their itchy skin.

However not all eczema patients having to live with it lifelong, between 40 to 50 percent of eczema patients in the West slowly recovered at near age of 10 years old.

This shows than half of eczema's patients will be able to control their skin problem better before entering secondary school. For the other half of eczema?s patient, they also can control this problem better but will require more efforts to avoid triggering eczema due to irritants or allergens.Do not treat eczema's patient differently

For those who do not have eczema then, do not treat eczema's patient differently. It is not easy to live with uncomfortable sense with our own skin, and imagine that you are locked in the uncomfortable skin.

It is a proud for the patient who can continue to live with the disease faced and it is noble to healthy individual to accept them in his life.

Mole Removal; Consult Your Dermatologist First
While most moles are completely benign, your dermatologist is the professional who is the best able to decide if your brown spot is indeed benign, cancerous (malignant melanoma) or a potentially precancerous mole (dysplastic nevus). Also many brown spots are not moles.

Mole removal for "appearance purpose" can be done in a variety of ways, namely with a scalpel, "punch" biopsy (a rounded cutting tool), laser or a combination of the above. The best method to remove a mole depends on its size, location on the body and individual characteristics. There is no single "best" method to remove benign moles. It is important to know whenever a mole is removed, there will be a scar. When performed by an experienced professional, the scar will be a significant cosmetic improvement and may be virtually imperceptible.

It is important to know that an accurate mole diagnosis may be difficult even for a dermatologist. You should consult one first before having your mole removal.

What Do You Know about Smoking and Cancer?

Smoking, is the single most preventable cause of death in the world. Cigarette smoking alone is directly responsible for approximately 30 percent of all cancer deaths annually in the United States. Smoking also causes chronic lung disease (emphysema and chronic bronchitis), cardiovascular disease, stroke, and cataracts. Smoking during pregnancy can cause stillbirth, low birthweight, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), and other serious pregnancy complications. Quitting smoking greatly reduces a person's risk of developing the diseases mentioned, and can limit adverse health effects on the developing child.

1. What are the effects of smoking on cancer rates?

However long you have been smoking, it is always worth giving it up.

Smoking causes 87 percent of lung cancer deaths. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women. Smoking is also responsible for most cancers of the larynx, oral cavity and pharynx, esophagus, and bladder. In addition, it is a cause of kidney, pancreatic, cervical, and stomach cancers as well as acute myeloid leukemia.

2. Are there any health risks for nonsmokers?

The health risks caused by cigarette smoking are not limited to smokers. Exposure to secondhand smoke, or environmental tobacco smoke (ETS), significantly increases the risk of lung cancer and heart disease in nonsmokers, as well as several respiratory illnesses in young children. (Secondhand smoke is a combination of the smoke that is released from the end of a burning cigarette and the smoke exhaled from the lungs of smokers.) The secondhand smoke has been classified as a known human carcinogen - a category reserved for agents for which there is sufficient scientific evidence that they cause cancer. The U.S. EPA has estimated that exposure to secondhand smoke causes about 3,000 lung cancer deaths among nonsmokers and is responsible for up to 300,000 cases of lower respiratory tract infections in children up to 18 months of age in the United States each year.

3. What harmful chemicals are found in cigarette smoke?

Cigarette smoke contains about 4,000 chemical agents, including over 60 carcinogens. In addition, many of these substances, such as carbon monoxide, tar, arsenic, and lead, are poisonous and toxic to the human body. Nicotine is a drug that is naturally present in the tobacco plant and is primarily responsible for a person's addiction to tobacco products, including cigarettes. During smoking, nicotine is absorbed quickly into the bloodstream and travels to the brain in a matter of seconds. Nicotine causes addiction to cigarettes and other tobacco products that is similar to the addiction produced by using heroin and cocaine.

4. How does exposure to tobacco smoke affect the smoker?

Smoking harms nearly every major organ of the body. The risk of developing smoking-related diseases, such as lung and other cancers, heart disease, stroke, and respiratory illnesses, increases with total lifetime exposure to cigarette smoke. This includes the number of cigarettes a person smokes each day, the intensity of smoking (i.e., the size and frequency of puffs), the age at which smoking began, the number of years a person has smoked, and a smoker's secondhand smoke exposure.

5. How would quitting smoking affect the risk of developing cancer and other diseases?

Smoking cessation has major and immediate health benefits for men and women of all ages. Quitting smoking decreases the risk of lung and other cancers, heart attack, stroke, and chronic lung disease. The earlier a person quits, the greater the health benefit. For example, research has shown that people who quit before age 50 reduce their risk of dying in the next 15 years by half compared with those who continue to smoke. Smoking low-yield cigarettes, as compared to cigarettes with higher tar and nicotine, provides no clear benefit to health. Adapted from National Cancer Institute.

However long you have been smoking, it is always worth giving it up.

Early Cancer Detection Using Proteomics Method
Nowadays we should be very aware of diseases that can hit us. It does not matter if you are a woman or a man. For example, women group now is more vulnerable to various cancer diseases especially the one that need early detection.

For that it helps when using proteomics method, a method which protein in cell or organism is studied to achieve protein expression profile.

Patient's blood is analyzed using two-dimensional gel method where the blood protein is separated by their isoelectric level and respective molecular weight. The protein spots then will be detected at the gel using staining technique.

Protein Spots

After that, the detected protein spots will be compared with the protein spots which found in normal patient. The difference between the both is compared using protein expression.

All samples used are taken from patients who already have cancer at the first and second stage to seek out the early marker which can detect the disease.

Protein Expression

For the second part of the study, a substance called lectin is used to see the protein expression difference in the segregated patient's blood using two-dimensional technique (2D).

To get the result, the 2D-gel then transferred onto nitrous cellulose layer and incubated with the lectin solution. The use of lectin gives the difference between the glycoprotein level of cancer patient and of normal individual.

From the study using lectin, a type of protein is found present in blood of endometrial cancer patient but not in cervical cancer patient's blood. The result found potentially can be use as a marker for endometrial cancer.

However the study on the protein must continue to study if the protein also present in other types of cancer. Hence a whole profile of cancer types must be done to identify the glycoprotein in the patient's blood. This early cancer marker can give chance for early cancer treatment.

Presbiacusis, a Hearing Declination Problem of the Elderly
Among the common difficulties encountered by the elderly is the decrease hearing ability problem (presbiacusis). The element frequently associated with this hearing function declination is the degeneration of auditory nerve component known as vestibulocochlear and experience by the elderly compared to young which mostly caused by structural problems.

This hearing problem is actually not something that must occur to all of people and at a same level. This is because each person have their own different lifestyle, job, health care, residential and environmental standards. All these background factors can influence the level of hearing declination in the senior age.

Presbiacusis

Presbiacusis is the declination of auditory sense which most often associated with aging process. Statistic published in year 2006 shows 21.1 percent of elderly citizen in Malaysia faced hearing problems. The fact is, this problem is more to aging process of the body physiology. It usually happened in age around 65 years old and it can happen earlier.

Factors which influenced the level of this sensorineural type declination includes hereditary, exposure to extreme and prolonged noise or other systemic disease problem such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hypothyroid and others.

Presbiacusis Symptom

Among symptoms when one experience presbiacusis is the difficulty to listen especially in noisy environment although sometime the person can listen clearly in quiet condition. They might say that they are able to listen, but they cannot understand anything which being said.

The sound stimulation collection phenomenon or "recruitment" is also often happened; they will suddenly hear a loud voice when the sound tone is slowly increased. Some of patients also come to get treatment only because they hear a noisy sound or ?tinnitus" inside their ear or head.

Structure of the human ear.

Presbiacusis Treatment
General Care of Health
It is important to ensure patients' general health condition in an optimum level, for example; good control of blood glucose level, their thyroid hormone therapy intake is following the correct dose and what is important is to follow the scheduled appointments all along. This is because the vestibulocochlear nerve is like as other nerves, is risked to complications which involve nerves, as an effect of uncontrolled systemic health problems like diabetes mellitus, hypothyroid, autoimmune disorder, germs infection and others.

Ear and Hearing Examination
Before trying any treatment methods being proposed, it is better to get an ear specialist doctor's or audiologist's view by undergoing ear examination and hearing level measurement. This is because not all patients can be treated by one same treatment.

Hearing Aid Device
The method which is found suitable to help improving hearing level is by using hearing aid device. Perhaps many think that by wearing this device, it would expose their weakness to the public. This is because the type of hearing aid device they usually knew is the older type and not user friendly.

In line with current technological enhancement, there are various forms and kinds of hearing aid device that can be found in the market today. Among the often used type is hearing aid device behind the ear, inside the ear, inside the ear canal and fully inside the ear canal.

Hearing problem within the elderly citizen group is a not a rare thing. Usually, it caused by the decline of auditory nerve function in parallel of the body's physiological change in aging process. Doctor's checkup is very needed to ensure that there is no other problem which becomes the cause of the hearing decline.

Recognize and Prevent Food Poisoning
Pain in the Gut

A sick feeling washes over you: nausea, stomach cramps, headache and fever. Vomiting and diarrhea may soon follow. The symptoms are familiar to anyone who's had the flu, but there may be another culprit - food that's gone bad.

Food-borne illness, or "food poisoning", usually comes from eating food tainted with bacteria or their toxins. Other types of microbes like viruses or parasites can also be behind food poisoning. People have long known that raw meat, poultry and eggs can harbor disease-causing microbes. But in recent years even fresh fruits and vegetables have caused headline-making outbreaks of food borne illness.

Fortunately, most cases of food poisoning aren't life threatening. You usually recover after a few days of misery. But children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are at more serious risk.

Food poisoning can cause debilitating abdominal pain, nausea, headache, fatigue, vomiting, diarrhea and dehydration. Symptoms usually appear several hours to several days after eating tainted food, depending on the microbe. For example, Salmonella bacteria - a common source of food-borne disease - usually cause illness 12 hours to 3 days after ingestion, with symptoms lasting about 4-7 days.

Noroviruses are another major cause of food-borne illness. Found in the vomit or stool of infected people, noroviruses can live in food and on surfaces. Careful hand-washing helps prevent the spread of these highly contagious viruses.

Some microbes are especially deadly. Listeria monocytogenes - a bacterium found in some ready-to-eat and raw foods - has caused the majority of food-related deaths in the U.S. in recent years. Listeria is unusual because it can grow and multiply even at refrigerator temperatures.

E. coli bacteria have been responsible for many highly publicized outbreaks of food-borne disease caused by contaminated vegetables or undercooked hamburgers. The O157:H7 strain recently made headlines when it caused 53 people to be hospitalized in a four-state region. They had eaten tainted lettuce at a fast-food chain. The O157:H7 strain is especially harmful to children because it can cause sudden kidney failure.

You can take an active role in fighting food poisoning. Thorough washing and proper cooking eliminates many disease-causing microbes. Take a look at these preventing food poisoning tips.

The most common way to treat food poisoning is to drink plenty of fluids. The sickness usually subsides within a few days. Contact your doctor, though, if you develop signs of severe dehydration, such as dry mouth, less urination or increased heart rate, or if you develop signs of shock, like weak or rapid pulse, clammy skin or chest pain. C-Shaped Legs in Children
Child's leg which bend and curved C-shaped may be caused by the condition of soft and weak bone. Usually this problem is more obvious when children start walking or "weight bearing".

This weak and soft condition of bone can be attributed by a number of diseases related to absorption of calcium into the bone and vitamin D deficiency.

This vitamin D deficiency disease can happen if vitamin D supply needed by the body is lacking from foods eaten or caused disturbance of vitamin D processing in the body.

The weak and soft bone cause is identifiable by special test. It is advised you to bring your child to see the specialist doctor so that causes of disease is traceable and specific treatment may be given before this problem becoming more serious.

Emotional Stress Could Cause Hair Loss
Identify the cause before choosing appropriate hair restoration treatment to regain the 'crown' back

Emotional stress have been identified to be the main cause of hair loss problem compared due to excess chemical usage which is sold on the market today. Hair loss problem because of emotional stress involve almost the same average number between men or women.

Hair loss incidents related to the mental stress are frequent. About 60 percent of patients who experience hair loss were caused by stress problems such as feeling worry, not getting enough sleep and having imbalanced diet.

The emotional stress experienced is usually not in a serious level but more to problems such as family problems, depression or involving love problems. There are also patients who experiencing traumas due to horrific incident such as involved in an accident or death of a loved one.

This pressure unnoticeably motivates the individual to do strange habit such as pulling hair from the head so much so causing large part of the head becoming bald without the person being aware about it. Stress also contributes to sleeping difficulty problems and imbalanced nutrition intake which can cause hair problem.

Identifying the Real Problem

Before a person undergoes a hair treatment, a therapist usually take their background such as heredity, imbalanced hormone or extreme use of chemical first to identify what is the real problem. The patient then would be given suitable hair treatment according to the level of problem.

If the real problem is caused by mental pressure or stress, the customer must first undergo a counseling session because it is the root to the treatment?s success. If the real problem is not overcome, the hair loss will always repeat itself although that we can give the hair restoration treatment again.

Have a Healthy Lifestyle

Among the counsels given are to advise the customer to have healthy lifestyle, for example, doing more exercises as the sweating from the activities can calm the mind down .

Apart from exercising, intake of balanced food also plays a vital role in overcoming hair loss problem. Hence, they need to be given a guide on healthy diet such as eating more fruits and fresh vegetables.

Drinking carbonated drinks and coffee could aggravate the hair loss problem. Those drinks should be avoided and if possible the person should drink more plain water or drinks that can cool the body down such as barley, soybean or coconut water.

A person with healthy hair experience loss between 30 to 120 pieces of hair daily, but this amount is replaced again. However, problematic hair falls more than this amount and they had no follicle to replace the lost hair.

Hair Loss by Young People

Hair loss, especially among young women and men are brought by extreme usage of chemical material such as mousse, hair spray or dye. Chemical use while bleaching the hair before coloring it is also among factors contributing to weak hair structure and easy to drop.

Hair with subtler structure is easier to get damaged by hair curling activity and hair straightening techniques. However, many teens ignore the impact just to look beautiful and to be in flow with current hair style. They are advised to know first their hair condition before using any chemicals or techniques to get the hair style desired.

For example, if their hair number is scanty, it is good not to curl their hair because it might worsen the condition and ruin the hair. If they want to color their hair, they have to make sure to do their hair treatment often or meet an expert quickly when their hair seems to fall too much (too much hair loss).

Healthy Hair Tips

To maintain healthy hair, practice having brilliantine more often by using natural oil such as coconut oil, apart from undergoing hair treatment regularly. Balanced diet and emotional calmness also influence shining and healthier hair.

Chance of recovery is high which is between 70 to 78 percent but this depends on the person himself. If they are diligent, the hair recovery process can happen faster, between two and a half and three month. Of more serious cases such as trauma, it may take time up to one and a half year to enable hair growth and become longer.

Sleep-deprived Can Increase Body Weight
A group of researchers from United States try to challenge the perception which states sleep less causing individual loose weight easily when claiming that the practice can instead add to one's body weight.

Since years long, body weight expert stress the interest of taking low calorie food and getting enough exercise.

However, University of Chicago's new research has shown the third factor to control weight - get enough sleep at night.

In fact, two studies has found, the volunteers involved in the researches of not getting enough sleep, have high level of a type of hormone that can trigger the sense of hunger. They also been detected to have a type of hormone that caused one to feel full, in low level.

"In accordance with that, we recommend any weight loss program also include ?getting enough sleep? factor as one of the useful tips," said Dr Esra Tasali, the university's sleep experts, who also involved in making the study.

A study involving 18,000 adults issued months ago by North American Association for the Study of Obesity (NAASO) found, those who sleep less than four hours a night, is 73 percent easier to become obese or fat compared to those who sleep seven to nine hours long.

A new research released also found nearly identical result when the involved research done to 1,024 volunteers.

From the total, 14.9 percent of respondents who sleep only for five hours recorded ghrelin hormone which promote appetite and feel of hunger.

Those who sleep-deprived also record a decline of leptin hormone, a hormone which caused one to feel full.

In the research, researchers found that the optimum level of sleep for the purpose of body weight control is 7.7 hours average.

"Act of reducing sleep time would only make eating appetite to increase and eat excessively."

Baby Vomiting: 50 Percent of Infants Experience Reflux
A baby vomiting after feeding experience a food channel problem called 'gastro-esophageal reflux (GER)'. This situation happens when food or milk in the stomach flows back into the oesophagus or the food channel which connects the mouth part and the stomach.

This reflux can happen after or when the baby eats. In the lower part of the food channel before it meet the stomach, there is a spiral muscle which controls the food travel so that the foods eaten cannot flow back from the stomach. This spiral muscle is called 'lower oesophageal spincter'.

When eating, this spiral muscle will open to facilitate food flowing into the stomach and releasing wind from the stomach, but sometimes this process causes some food also flowed back into the oesophagus channel and produce regurgitation or vomit.

If the reflux is fairly strong, food can exit through nose. Reflux also can occur if the child cries, coughs or struggles for some reasons.

About 50 percent of normal infants experience this GER ?s state especially at the age of first three months and most of them will stop vomiting when their age increase and the problem disappears at the aged of 12 to 24 months.

However, a small number of babies who have reflux experience more serious problems which need attention. Usually they give symptoms such as vomiting blood, lack of body weight, no appetite to eat, always crying and fractious, prolonged cough and respiratory problems including lung infections.

Treatment of baby who has reflux depends on the symptom and the baby's age. Of healthy baby, treatment is not required because this reflux symptom is going to stop by it own when the child grows up.

The only thing which you need to do is to ensure your baby to lean 45 degrees vertically when eating or suckling and let him or her in that position for 30 minutes after eating or suckling.

If with this way your baby still experiences the reflux problem, bring your child to see a doctor so that it may be examined more carefully and given special treatment for the reflux.

There are specific treatments of for the disease if it disturbs your child?s health.
